LATE STARTS

Several key players will miss the start of the 2022-23 NHL season.
Here's a look at some of those who will be starting the season late because of injury.

CHARLIE MCAVOY, D, Boston
Had shoulder surgery in early June.
Sidelined until the early part of December.

GABRIEL LANDESKOG, LW, COLORADO
Underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and is expected to be back in mid-January.

TOM WILSON, RW, WASHINGTON
Recovering from left knee ACL surgery.
Will not be available until the middle of December.

MAX PACIORETTY, LW, CAROLINA
Had achilles surgery and is expected to miss at least six months of action.

ANTHONY DUCLAIR, LW, FLORIDA
Had surgery to replair a torn achilles.
Sidelined until at least the middle of March.

NICKLAS BACKSTROM, C, WASHINGTON
Had left hip surgery and is not expected back until sometime in January.

CAREY PRICE, G, MONTREAL
Has not responded well to treatment of a knee injury and is expected to miss the entire 2022-23 season.

RYAN ELLIS, D, PHILADELPHIA
Expected to miss the entire season due to a torn muscle in his back.

CHRIS DRIEDGER, G, SEATTLE
Underwent surgery in early June to repair a torn ACL and is expected to be sidelined until the middle of January.

ZACH BOGOSIAN, D, TAMPA BAY
Had shoulder surgery and will not make his season debut until early January.

ANTHONY CIRELLI, C, TAMPA BAY
Had surgery in early July to repair an AC joint sprain.
Anticipated he will not be available until the early part of January.

ROBIN LEHNER, G, VEGAS
Will miss the entire 2022-23 season because of pending hip surgery.

TIMOTHY LILJEGREN, D, TORONTO
Had hernia surgery and will be out until November.

MIKE SMITH, G, EDMONTON
Unlikely to play in 2022-23 due to multiple injuries.
